Natalie R Vella, a professional makeup artist with 15+ years of experience under her belt has established herself as not only a master of natural, radiant beauty but an expert educator who approaches her work in a logical and realistic manner. Previously working on a diverse range of beauty projects has given Natalie a well-rounded level of expertise.
"I was lucky enough to be raised in beauty; my Mum was a makeup artist, I’ve always been immersed in it. I’ve always known I’ve wanted to be in the arts and my medium just happens to be makeup.
I love beauty. I have always done. There is a famous quote from Valentino, “I love beauty, it’s not my fault”. And that quote has always stuck with me, I just love aesthetics.
When you see something beautiful, a beautiful flower or a beautiful sunset, it’s visual endorphins. And I see that in makeup, beauty and fashion. And so that’s always captivated me.
She also brings a rich background in the Arts, having studied Photography, Beauty Therapy, and Fine Arts. Each of these subjects was intentionally chosen to deepen and diversify her approach to makeup artistry. Yes, she studied them purposefully for makeup.
Through Photography, she learned how lighting, camera setups, and composition affect colour, contrast, and dimension on the face. In Beauty Therapy, she gained an in-depth understanding of skincare, skin types, texture, and the science behind product formulation, allowing her to adapt techniques and products for each client. Fine Arts gave her a deeper understanding of visual balance, texture, and weight. Most importantly, it is where she developed her expansive knowledge of colour theory and pigment mixing, which now forms the foundation of her unique and intuitive approach to makeup.
LOOKING BACK: G&G BRIDAL MASTERCLASS
In this Masterclass, Natalie opened up the floor to her guests and let them shape the direction of the session. Unanimously, they asked to see her Signature Bridal look — and she delivered.
But it wasn’t just about demonstrating the application. Natalie broke down her full approach, sharing the thought process behind each step. She explained why she chose each product, each brush, and each technique.
